Coalcliff

A modest addition to a project home style dwelling. Located on a large sloping site, with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean to the East, the primary objectives focused on internalising parking, achieving greater solar penetration and maximising the views to the Pacific.

A streetscape analysis identified opportunity for the additions to be forward of the building line, minimising the intervention to the existing building, reducing excavation and allowing the new and updated spaces to take full advantage of the vistas to the Pacific Ocean and headlands.

The use of open gables and cathedral ceilings to the top storey living and dining zones provide opportunities for additional highlight glazing, further encouraging solar penetration.
